Birds and Toile

Birds and Toile.....
When I found this quilt on Ebay, I knew it was 'the one'.
It is from Pottery Barn a year or so back....I don't remember it, do you?
Soft blue background with the deeper tans and browns, the botanicals, birds and butterflies
Just perfect!

I had the hardest time trying to capture the colors in the quilt in my pics?
Here's a better shot:

I've been debating whether I should paint the bed a creamy white or not, especially after looking at the pics.  The cannon ball posts seem to stick out like a sore thumb.

What do you think?

And lastly, my wonderful Grandson...whose
'room' I've taken over.  He likes it though.

It feels good to finally have a project complete....well, I'm sure I'll still tweek a thing or two.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend...I am!

  1. Hi Susie! I love your quilt, I have a hard time passing up Pottery Barn quilts because they wash up so soft and comfy. It makes your room very cozy. I would love to see that bed shabbied up but I would have a hard time putting a paint brush to it..
    Great idea for curtins!
What a cutie grandson you have there..I'm jealous because I have none so far.
    Happy Sunday~Sue

  2. If you're not lovin' the bed then go for it! You love all the other white furniture in your house and it will be a nice contrast to the dresser chest next to the bed and the linen curtains. Did you look on Pinterest for one? Maybe you could find one there to get an idea of what it would look like in the end. You know what I say? Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White! No prep, one coat, sand, clear wax, and then decide if you want to add a little dark wax. Go see Denna at High Falootin Junk in downtown Mt. Dora and she can show you the sample boards! She stocks all the paint colors and both waxes. denise

  3. I am loving your room. The curtains are wonderful and the bedspread is perfect for the room. I would probably paint the bed Old White/Creamy White. I think it is the first thing that you notice when you look at the pictures-the bed itself and not the other elements of the room. I say Go For It! Easy for ME to say- I'm not the one painting! xo Diana

  4. I'm sure your grandson is very happy with his new bedroom. I know I love it. I have the same problem with stained wood ...like it in real life but feel different when I see it in pictures. I've painted so many things the last few months I'm giving myself a break for a little while.

    Happy Halloween,

    Carole

  5. The room is very inviting. It looks great the way it is. If the bed isn't exactly the look you want consider I would consider going with the light tan that is in the fabrics. It a soft in between white and natural wood.

  6. Hi Susie - thanks for your visit! Let me throw my vote in there - with all your other white furniture I vote PAINT your bed! I think you'll love it!

Been doing some reading here this morning and I'm sure liking your style! Chippy and shabby (and farmy) is what I like! You're great at picking up terrific items from sales!

Wishing you good health and a lovely holiday season - hope to see your bed after you get it painted! Cutie-pie grandson - I don't have any yet, so I'm extremely jealous! I'm following you now!
