It's Wednesday....White in the Bedroom

I have several sets of linens for the bedroom...a soft blue, green  & brown for the summer, brown & white for winter, but my favorite is the "all white" ensemble!  The bedroom is quite small, but I am pleased with the cozy feeling of the small space.  There are two large 'offset' windows, and this is basicially the only way of situating the bed and furniture.  How much room does one need in the bedroom anyway?

I love this cross.  It hangs on the wall by my nightstand as a constant reminder that I have a place to lay down my burdens of the day!

I am the recipient of the "Honest Scrap" Award

A big thank you to  Kathleen at  Faded Charm for awarding the "Honest Scrap" award to me.  Well,  this is all new to me, and I am glad to participate.  So, here's what  I am supposed to do....
* Say thanks and give a link to the presenter of the award.
* Share "10 Honest Things" about myself.
* Present this award to 7 others whose blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.
* Tell those 7 people they've been awarded HONEST SCRAP and inform them of these guidelines

And away we go:

1.  First and most importantly, I am a Christian, and I try daily to live in obedience to God and His word.

2.  I do not always meet the goals of #1, but God is faithful, and He doesn't ever give up on me!

3.  I have been married for 31 years, and my husband and I have been in love for 37 years.  I have one son who is 26, and am the proud grandmother to his son who is 6 years old.

4.  Even though I have had to work full time for the past 2 years, my heart's desire is to be able to stay home, where I can 'play house', cook, garden and have more time to create and decorate!

5.  I desire to live a simple life.

6.  I'd rather live in my small comfortable home, than in a fancy mansion.

7.  I'd rather go the the nursery and buy a new wonderful plant than to buy a new outfit.

8.  Give me a piece of primitive furniture in original chippy white paint anyday, than diamonds or gold!

9.  The only shoes I wear are Birkenstocks or Crocs.

10. I am content!!

I hereby pass this award to the following inspirational fellow bloggers:

"Annie Britt" in my vegetable garden

This is my sweet kitty "Annie Britt".  She is lovingly named after my Grandmother who lived to be 104!  She loved to garden and loved her cats as well, so when my friend gave me this kitty, I knew right away what to name her.....

Now if she would only pull those weeds!

INSPIRE!

When I got home from work today, I had a package at the door.  It was this wonderful banner that I won in Lisa's recent giveaway.  I found the perfect place and immediately hung it!  Be sure to check out her wonderful creations at http://tarnishedandtattered.blogspot.com/.

Which leads me to this question....Should I paint the french doors white?
The doors lead to my office/studio, which I'll share someday when it gets cleaned up!

WHITE WEDNESDAY "UTILITY"......Useful Items I Enjoy....In White

Definition of Utility:  From Old French utilite (“‘usefulness’”) (French utilité), ultimately from Latin uti (“‘to use, enjoy’”).

My father-in-law thought I was nuts when I asked him for this old hammer from his shop.  He just didn't understand...It's White!!!

"MOSS"...A Short Story by Susie

I'm not really sure why I have a 'fascination' with moss, but I do know where it all began....Many years ago, I was taking 'herb' classes at the home of a wonderfully escentric older couple.  They had the most beautiful herb gardens and their home was so quaint and cozy.  Each week she taught on a different herb.  We had to smell and touch each herb and write in our journals 'what the herb was saying to us'!  The husband taught cooking, and was an expert in baking the most delicious french bread I have ever tasted which we ate along with a gourmet lunch....Oh, it was so much fun!  One day, while I was walking quitely through the gardens enjoying the wonderful sights and fragrances of the herbs, I came upon the most beautiful pot of herbs with this green moss surrounding the base of the plants. I had never seen it before, but it was love at first sight.  I promptly asked her "where can I get some of that moss?"  She looked at me straight in the eye and said "you just have to steal it". Needless to say, when I left that day, I had my very own clump of moss!

Imagine my joy (fast forward about 15 years), when I was walking around at my friends property and spotted mounds of that same lovely green moss growing happily all over the yard....Well, I won't go into details, but....once again...I have moss!

God Bless America...We Remember ~September 11~

May God Bless America, our troops and military personnel who are fighting so hard for our freedom.  May we never take freedom for granted, but be continually grateful to live in this great country of ours.  May God bless us all with peace and comfort today and always...Amen

Welcome White Wednesday....Featuring Cupboards, Cabinets and Cubbies

This is the cupboard in my office/studio which holds all my paperwork and goodies.
Bathroom Storage!

These are my kitchen cabinets.  They are the original cabinets from the 1950's with the craziest knobs.  I definitely want to replace them....just not sure which direction to go.  The only thing is that I have a total of 20 knobs and 8 pulls to replace!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....

My Labor Day......I planted my first vegetable garden, using the 'Square Foot' method

I first dug up the soil and added compost, manure and spagnum peat.  I then covered the area with clear plastic for 6 weeks to 'solarize' (kill all the bad stuff)!  My husband built the 4' square and we then divided it into 16, 12" squares.
