White Wednesday ~ New Whites in the Living Room

A few new 'finds' for the living room.  The 'T" is from a shop that sold seashells. The paint has sand in it for texture.  I've had this for many years, but just put it on this wall the other day.  I just made the pillow on the chair last week from a vintage grain sack.  The 'footstool' is a great old white chippy wood box that I saw on Beths post at Old Thyme Marketplace (she was showing some of her new finds).  I emailed her right away...and now it's mine!  She's got great things...be sure to check out her blog!  This is a temporary 'fix' until I find the right footstool to recover.

I also made pillows for the sofa.  The darker pillow was made from an antique piece of rug-hooking.  Love the bird theme.  I finally finished the pillow from an antique grain sack (I even added cording to the edges..my first time!).

The tray on the very temporary coffee table was a recent find.  It's tin with original white chippy paint. I played around with a few 'vignettes', but what I really need to do is to get out my shells.  They will look great on the tray!

I was 'pillow happy' last week..  The center one is a 'box pillow' from a down cushion I had.  It's great to prop up on the arm for lounging!
A closer look at the pillows. Sometimes, I do good!

A new 'collection' of vintage light bulbs in a wire basket with white chippy paint.

A few new things here too!
Check out this wonderful dimunitive antique chair!  It's hand crafted with many layers of wonderful white paint and dated 1895 on the bottom.  Unfortunately, the picture doesn't do it justice...it's a treasure for sure!

I made the 1 2 3 bottles yesterday.  My inspiration was the old bottles at fairs and carnivals used for the ring toss and where you knock down the stacked bottles with a ball!  I had some vintage curtain rings with old white paint which I've added!  The bottles are covered in canvas, painted white and then stencilled. Oh, just to let you know......they are 4 sale in my Etsy shop....plug....plug!

Lastly is this awesome frame.  Old, original layers of creamy white paint, chippy....and on sale....my favorite things.  I love it so good, I'll probably keep it on the wall until I find the perfect picture!

Thanks for letting me share my new stuff.  Be sure to check out all the White Wednesday posts at Faded Charm,  Thanks again Kathleen for being a marvelous hostess!

Blessings,
Susie

White Wednesday ~Am I Too Late For The WBC Party?

For my White Wednesday post last week, I showed a few shots of my desk/work table in my studio, and mentioned that I wasn't even considering  joining the Where Bloggers Create Party, but it did motivate me, so I mustered up some energy, got inspired, cleaned and organized my studio.  Wow...does it ever feel good!.  My room is rather small,  but I have somehow manged to find a home for most everything!  So, I missed the party, but still wanted to share (before it gets messy again)!

The studio is just off of the dining room with french doors as the entrance.  I had planned to paint the doors white, but that's not going to happen since we will be moving in several months.  I also wanted to repaint the room..  When we moved here almost two years ago, I had a little 'color attack' and thought it would be fun to paint out the room this bright green.  Loved it then....now....not so much!

I just put this shelf up, but the paint needs to be doctored up a bit.  I really don't like to repaint antiques, but it was baby blue!  Like my clock faces?  I have to confess, they are photocopies...just needed something quick to fill the shelves!
I'm also over the sheers and grapevine, but I probably won't  take 'em down til we start packing...I'm getting a little depressed at that thought....
My desk/work table is just an old picnic table someone was thowing away.  It's sound and sturdy!
I have a great view of the garden from the window.

Turning the corner to the back wall..

Antique fence section 'holds everything'

Old shoe factory  basket (lots of stuff stashed in here)

Oops..my unfinished rug hooking project!  Oh well, I like to look at it!
"The Cupboard"...I'm always changing around the shelves...
'Sure holds a lot of stuff'
The door leads to our side yard...I have to confess, most of the time, I can hardly get to the door because too much stuff is in the way.  I'm going to keep it clear from now on!

These are great old shutters...I've had them for a long, long time.  Sure hope I have the perfect place for them again when we move...
I'm now about to do something never attempted before......show the inside of this cupboard...

Ta Da....Not too bad!  The photo boxes were also that bright green, but with the help of my adhesive spray and some cute birdhouse themed wrapping paper...I fixed them up.  I also made labels with my Cricut machine (my newest favorite toy!)

So this concludes the tour....thanks for letting me share this part of me!

I'm on my way now to link up with Kathleen at Faded Charm for White Wednesday.  CYA there!

Blessings,
Susie

White Wednesday Where I Work

This Saturday,  the 19th, the infamous  Blog Party  "Where Bloggers Create" will begin....info can be found here, hosted by Karen Valentine..  I'm sure I'll be spending hours looking over wonderful studios and creative spaces!  I thought about participating (for about 2 seconds), but thought it would be too overwhelming to make my studio 'perfect' for showing.  I've been creating lots of stuff the last couple of weeks, and, I have to admit, I can be a bit disorganized at times.    So today I was looking around my messy work space, and I noticed a couple of things....even in the madness, I still have a little box, tin, tray, or small area set up with  a little pleasing vignette .  Sometimes, it's just things I'm using, or other times, I will place small items here and there,  waiting to be inspired.   Here's a few pics:

This is the cutest little zinc box holding tags, string, feathers, tallow, etc. all nice and neat in the midst of chaos.

All of my pens, scissors and tools are in vintage pots...all with old white paint, of course!

What to do with the old hardware pieces?.....they look like a C and an 8.  Also trying to come up with a  new and clever way to use the old water valves.  "S" for Susie!

Here's a few other shots that I took of  stuff that  I added to My Etsy Shop today...plug, plug....!

I have a couple of 'different' cloches which are actually vintage light covers.  They're pretty cool and unique! I love the dome shape, and the glass is much heavier than regular cloches...they're made to last a long time!

An old, original stringholder jar.

An old white crusty piece of zinc made into a sign (sold today)!

Just a random shot..

I'm linking up with Kathleen at Faded Charm for the 52nd White Wednesday.

My Mind Is In The Gutter Today

I found my first old Gutter Guards years ago in Tennessee.  From the moment I first saw them (of course, I had to be told what they were!), I fell in love with their shape and form.

The bird print.....courtesy of The Feathered Nest

So, one day while I was in Home Depot, I happened across this mesh one.  It really looked pretty 'cheesy", but I said to myself ."this could work".  I painted it white, dry-brushed a cream color, and then finally hit it with brown.  Now it's a cloche!

I also searched on-line and found the following new gutter guard.
Of course, it's way to shiny, so I grunged it up a bit with Instant Rust.  I also didn't care for the square shape, so I simply rounded it out....very easy!  Now it's a 'trellis' for my ivy plant.
I also 'doctored' up the terracotta pot by applying modeling paste (never used it before, but I've had this jar for years).  After the paste dried, I slathered on some paint.  Once that dried, I just hit it with sandpaper.
