While I'm not superstitious, I do enjoy certain traditions. One of my favorite is a 'Southern Tradition' to eat ham, black eyed peas, collard greens and rice on New Years Day. It is believed that these foods bring good luck and prosperity! I also make a cornbread casserole and homemade chocolate pie...Yummm!
I usually host an open house for friends and family, but this year was spent with my Pastor and his lovely family. The food was good and we had a nice relaxing time...a great way to start the new year.
God is Good and I am looking forward to 2010!
Blessings to all,
Susie
Happy New Year Susie. I've been craving greens and cornbread all day. My G.R.I.T.S. heritage has me ashamed of myself today for not having any of that. I know tradition. I hope I'm not going to be poor all year. LOL.

It's a tradition in my house, too. I shudder to think what would happen if we dared to start off the New Year without our black-eyed peas! ;-)
