My Saturday...so far, and it's only 4:30!

I started my morning productively!  I decided to gather and price a few items to take to my Shop little shelf at the Antique Mall.  I was pricing this vintage bundt pan, but it just looked so plain....so, it became a make-do birds nest.  The 'nesting material' is the packing material used by Anthropologie (it's really cool stuff!).  The 'eggs' are vintage finials.

Now to do something with the dozens of candles I have.  These green candles have a great rustic, handmade look.  I wrapped them with a piece of rusty fence, made a nest out of wire and added eggs, well actually they are dried black-eyed peas!

Some see a glass custard cup....I see a mini cloche!

These 'eggs' are rocks painted to resemble quail eggs.

But the best part so far is.......

Meet "Duke", my new dog!  I have been 'dogless' for far too long.  I regulary check Craigslist for 'treasures' and today I found the best!  Duke is a Blue Merle Border Collie and he's 1 1/2 years old.  His owner is moving and isn't able take him with her.  He's so beautiful, sweet, and calm!  He loves to run outside, fetch balls and play frisbee.  Duke and Javan (my grandson) are already bonding...I think it's a great match!  Javan finally has a dog, and Duke has a 'boy'!

The reason Duke's right eye looks funny (other than the fact that I am not a good photographer) is that it's half brown and half blue...pretty cool!

Now I think I'll take a nap!

Blessings,
Susie

  4. I'm happy for you and Javan looks especially happy too! Great that you got a calm border collie. I recently got a puppy so that my 5 year old border collie mix would have a friend, had forgotten the amount of work and supervision a 13 week old puppy requires, and now my older dog is wanting tons more attention too!

  6. I love all your creativity, but the best part is your grandson and your new dog. We've been dogless too for awhile and my son has been wanting one too lately. Hope you had a great weekend, T

  8. Hey Susie,
I always say, there is a special place in heaven for those who adopt shelter dogs, or any dog in need of a home. My own pup is a shelter dog & she is so darn cute. I think they know too, that they have been saved & are so grateful. They are the best pets. Enough about that, now about the bundt pan, hope you have it priced well cuz it's wonderful. I'll have to order something from Anthro so I can get some of that shredded stuff. It looks to me like you need a whole booth, your ideas are great. I'd buy it all up in a jiffy. Lisa

I love that packing material...I received some once and used it as a backsplash in a display I loved it so much. Now I need to find what I did with it so I can make a nest too!

    Great new background too.
