House Color - Need Help Please

It's such a relief to know that we can stay in our home.  But, of course, now I'm wanting to do all the projects that have been 'on hold' while we were 'in limbo' .

I really want to paint the house.  It's really a drab beige.  We did paint the brick shutters white which really helped.

So now......What Color?
I really want to keep a 'cottage' appeal.

What do you think?

This is actually the side of the house, but the driveway and carport are on this side.

This is the roof of the carport....love the beams!

I appreciate your advise!
I''m stumped on this one.

Thanks,
Susie

  1. I am pretty sure there are some on line sites where you can upload pic of house and change the colors on the screen. Maybe you can find or someone can recommend one. Try some paint company sites first?

    Good luck <3

  3. First off, if it were my house, I'd paint the front door! On each of the several homes we've owned thru the years, my good/willing husband painted the doors sometimes twice/year, everything from brilliant blue, to pomegranate, to Christmas Red, to a dark green..........whatever suited my fancy at the moment. I always enjoyed that.

  4. I say in honor of your beautiful hair, paint it a french grey with a white trim.
    Enjoy

  5. You have so many options...I understand how confusing it can get. I like a neutral background with bright colored shutters...but that's just me! Best of luck!

  6. Hi Susie! I am so delighted to hear that you don't have to move! And how fantastic to see your hair growing. I know that must feel great.

When we decided to paint our house, we started driving around and just looking at houses, and their paint schemes. We found one we fell in love with and that's what color we painted! We did do wine colored front doors, and that definitely made them stand out.

I do love the idea of the French gray with white trim. If you did that and put some floral pops of color in those beautiful urns and window boxes, it would be a winner for sure!

I'm so hoping to meet you at Shelley's! Just a matter of when this baby decides to come!! We're sitting on pins and needles anxiously awaiting the call!!

    Have a great weekend!!

  7. Your hair looks beautiful, so happy for you that it's growing back in so nicely.

Since I've been to your house and also seen the inside,I think my color dilemma would be whether or not to have the outside be an indication of what is inside, or have it be a totally different and colorful combination. So far, based on the comments you've gotten, I am liking the idea of a gray and white combo with a colorful front door and some colorful blooms out front. It will be fun to see what you decide to do and how pretty it will be.

  8. They say to look at your wardrobe and the colors taht are most abundant there are the tones that appeal to you. Do you have any color combo in mind at all? Living in FL you can get away with just about any color. I also like a cocoa brown with cream. If the roof is black (which I can't tell from the pictures) I think the grey would be great. If it is a brownish roof it will not look so good grey. It looks to me like your screen door is kind of a cocoa brown already. This color on the siding would really POP the white shutters and window boxes...and then filled with bright blooms..and a door painted in a nice color---.OH MY!

Good luck- let us know what you decide! xxoo Diana

  10. I would vote grey and white as well. I am planning to paint our house this spring as well....I am using a warm grey in two different tones.

  11. So, did you ever paint? Don't know if I'm too late to comment on it, but I love the idea of the French Gray with White trim or a Latte (brownish/taupe) with White. I've been watching reruns of House Hunters International and am in love with the blue doors in rural France and Italy. Makes me want to change my barn red door to blue! I'd love to see photos of the final result!
